Classic Events is the culmination of a career built equally on the elements of culinary excellence and personal service.
Classic Events beginnings.
After taking leadership of Tice Food Service’s catering division in June 1992, Bob decided it was time to spice things up, and Classic Events Catering was born. Bob stirred up a strategy for growing his successful business by providing quality catering for Champaign-Urbana and the surrounding communities.
Originally from Bourbonnais, Illinois, Bob enrolled at the University of Illinois, graduating with a bachelor’s degree in Restaurant Management in 1986.
He built his food service repertoire with stints as Kitchen Manager of Maxwell’s Grill, Assistant Manager of the Greater Downtown Food and Beverage Company later known as the Bermuda Onion and Food Service Director for the National Academy of Arts, a performing arts high school once located in downtown Champaign. He also owned and operated Vriner’s Restaurant in downtown Champaign prior to taking on the challenge of Classic Events Catering.

Bob has been teaching cooking classes for 14 years and makes regular appearances on the local Channel 3 CBS morning show. He is a regularly featured guest performing cooking demonstrations at the Annual Home and Garden Show at the Assembly Hall.
